    Moffitt Services & Roy Moffitt

    Corporate Honoree

ROY MOFFITT is the President of Moffitt Services, bringing decades of experience in the fuel industry. His journey began at just 14 years old, working alongside his mother, Joann Moffitt, where he developed a deep understanding of the fuel business. Roy later founded Roy Moffitt Customized Fueling, which became a leading fuel distributor in Texas. After successfully growing and later selling his company, he joined Moffitt Services, working alongside his son, Rusty Moffitt, and longtime friend and business associate, Carl Kleimann. Today, Roy holds ownership stake in Moffitt Services, which has grown into one of the largest fuel distributors in Texas, serving industries nationwide. His leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence continue to drive the company's success in fuel distribution, site services, and emergency response solutions. Beyond business, Roy is passionate about giving back to the community. He is a close friend of Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch, and has been a strong supporter of the organization’s mission for years. Under his leadership, Moffitt Services has been a longtime supporter of Texas EquuSearch, donating over $100,000 annually and providing essential equipment such as fuel, porta potties, and roll-off containers whenever available to assist in search and rescue operations. Roy’s commitment to Texas EquuSearch extends even further, as Moffitt Services now hosts an annual golf tournament benefiting the organization—a new tradition that will continue to support and strengthen their life-saving efforts.

    Sheriff Ed Gonzalez

    Community Honoree

A lifelong Houstonian, Sheriff Gonzalez started his journey in public service at the Houston Police Department, first as a civilian, then a peace officer, homicide detective, hostage negotiator, and sergeant. After nearly two decades of service as a peace officer, Sheriff Gonzalez won a seat on the Houston City Council, serving three terms as the representative for residents in District H, an area north and east of downtown Houston. As a city councilman, he chaired the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee and was appointed Mayor Pro-Tem. He was instrumental in creating the Houston Recovery Center, a diversion facility where people with public intoxication cases connect with a recovery coach rather than going to jail. In his first year in office, Sheriff Gonzalez was called upon to lead the agency through the worst natural disaster in US history – Hurricane Harvey. While managing the 5,000-employee agency’s disaster response from the top, Sheriff Gonzalez also worked to lead from the front, personally assisting in multiple water rescues of stranded residents. Sheriff Ed Gonzales and Tim Miller have become friends over the last years. Working hand in hand making sure the families of Harris County know that Lost is Not Alone. Working 500 plus cases together and bringing closure for families has created a bond between Sheriff Gonzales, his officers and all the volunteers of Texas EquuSearch.
